Measured the same way as the Pinnacle odds API alerts
The Pinnacle odds API drop feed measures a drop as the fall divided by the old price: 2.37 to 2.25 is 0.12 of 2.37, or 5.06%, the exact drop_pct in the documented drops example. The calculator uses the same formula, so a threshold you test here behaves the same way in the stream.
A 5% drop on a 1.50 favourite and on a 5.00 outsider are different events. The probability shift shows how much the market's view of that side actually changed.
- It is informationA falling Pinnacle price usually means money the book respects has arrived on that side.
- Other books followMany bookmakers move after Pinnacle does. The gap between the two moves is where steam bettors work.
- Judge by fair, not by the dropHold your bookmaker's price against the new fair price, the alert's
nvp. A big drop that leaves your book below fair is not a bet.
Why a Pinnacle drop is worth an alert
Most price moves are noise. A move at the book that takes the sharpest money is the one other books tend to copy, which is why bettors watch Pinnacle's line rather than everyone's.
